This silver-plated Hermès wine bottle holder by Ravinet d’Enfert draws upon Hermès’ equestrian origins to create a sleek, minimalist design. The perfect complement to any dinner party or sideboard, this wine bottle holder combines function with elegance.
The Brand
The French luxury goods manufacturer’s history dates back to 1837, when Thierry Hermès first established a harness workshop in the Grands Boulevards quarter of Paris, dedicated to serving European noblemen. Over its history, Hermès has been dedicated to creating objects of elegant and luxurious design, as well as unparalleled quality.
The Design
This silver-plated wine holder has a “snaffle bit” design, which is thanks to Hermès origins as a maker of equestrian accessories. The bit is part of the horse’s equipment, and is attached within the horse’s mouth to help control the horse’s head.
The “snaffle bit” is one of the most common types of bit used – as can be seen from the design, it applies pressure via two main rings, which here, are used to support the wine bottle at the base and neck. A joint connects the base ring to the upper ring, again reminiscent of the horse’s equipment. A small “Hermès, Paris” stamp can be seen along the curve of the link between the two rings.
The wine holder has developed a beautiful iridescent sheen, which has manifested in a slightly darker colour, with tints of purple, gold, and teal, adding to its overall vintage feel. If required, we are able to polish the piece to return it to its original silver, upon request.
If sold within the United Kingdom, this Hermès Wine Bottle Holder will be subject to 20% VAT.
