This Hermès 8-Day revolving compendium is made of gilt-brass and is comprised of a clock, a barometer, a calendar, and a temperature gauge. The compendium rests on top of a leather plinth that provides an attractive contrasting texture to the metal.

Art Deco and Cubist Philosophies
Designed by the visionary Paul Dupré-Lafon for Hermes, his background as an architect and a decorator can clearly be seen in the combination of Cubist philosophies and Art Deco geometric lines of the piece. The critic and designer Michel Dufet once claimed that Dupré-Lafon “understood the profound essence of luxury”, a statement which the compendium embodies with its multiple functions, aesthetic elegance, and functional details.
The Design
On the front of the compendium, the ivory-coloured dial is signed “Hermès, Paris”, with engraved dates of the month and apertures showing the days of the week/month (on an ivory date cylinder), on the reverse. On the sides, the barometer and thermometer display delicate needle-style hands, while the compass rests above. There is a rich sheen of patina throughout the compendium, giving it a classic, vintage look.
The brass case stands on a swivel base, on a British racing green leather base. This compendium is perfect as a sophisticated touch to any office desk or coffee table, and its varying functions provide a hint of excitement to your everyday life.
If sold within the United Kingdom, this Hermès Compendium Desk Clock will be subject to 20% VAT. We will be donating all proceeds from the sale of this clock to the charity Shelter.
